1. What safety steps are they taking to ensure your, and your bridal party’s safety? Remember there are plenty of anti-maskers out there and you want to be sure you’re not contractually bound to one because you didn’t ask.
  2. Will they require a separate working space separate from the bridal party to work? Your artist is there to work and should be able to do so without potentially exposing themselves to getting sick. You should understand that they’re doing their best to stay healthy, and you should be too.
  3. How much time do they need between people to sanitize their station and tools? Yep, there are still makeup artists out there who will use the same brush on multiple people. This speaks to their integrity and you should know if they will be prepared with enough brush sets for your bridal party or if they’re equipped with enough disposables.
  4. Will they be using cosmetics that are transfer-proof? It’s easy to say that they can make you up and you will look beautiful. And chances are, you will. What you want to be sure of is when you put on your mask, will it leave a mark, rub off your makeup or create weird smudges on your face. There are techniques and cosmetics that artists can use to keep transfer to a minimum. All you have to do is ask.
  5. Have they been tested for COVID and will they be tested prior to your wedding? In NYS it’s required for artists to be tested prior to working but without being able to monitor this, it’s difficult to know if everyone is. Though you will have to rely on their honesty, it doesn’t hurt to ask.
