When you’re budgeting your expenses for your wedding, you’re undoubtedly trying to save wherever you can. One place that many people don’t think about is your wedding invitations. If you think about it, how many people you know keep their wedding invitations forever? Are they likely to frame every invitation they receive? What about those that you’re inviting out of obligation but are not going to make the trek to your venue no matter what?

There are so many other things you will have to pony up good money for because in this day and age, you really have to watch out for the “cheap” vendors. You’re not going to want to cheap out on your venue, photographer, hair and makeup artist, and dress. Invitations, however, that’s one we should take a second look at. There are a bunch of places where you can get really nice, quality invitations that will cost you a fraction of the cost of getting the fancy, fabric type invitations with calligraphy.

Here is a starter list of places that you can trust to give you the quality and quantity you want without breaking the bank. (Click the name of the company to be taken directly to their website)

Vistaprint. Starting at just .31 cents per piece this is definitely a place you should take a look at. They have a bunch of options such as Save the Date, Menu, Program, and even thank you cards. If you’re on a super tight budget, maybe you just opt for the save the date, invitations, and thank you cards. You can design your own by uploading a photo of the two of you or whatever else you’d like to use. Type out the wording and let Vistaprint show you your options. Enter your quantity and payment information and the box shows up at your door. Easy peasy.

Shutterfly is another amazing option. If you already use them for printing your photos (they always have such awesome deals) then you’re familiar with how easy it is to use their site. Just download the app and you can even do this while you’re in line at Starbucks this holiday season waiting for your double mocha latte with a shot of espresso. With prices starting at .75 cents per item, your photo will appear just as you want it on your custom order. For just a bit more you can really have an elegant invitation that expresses both you and your fiancé.

Going grocery shopping at Walmart? Pick up your milk, bread and eggs, and your invitations too! Yep, they really do make everyone’s life easy. With pricing starting at around .89 cents per invitation, you can upload your images on their app, send them off to print, and pick them up when you’re running errands.

Moving into a bit more (but still less than the traditional invitation) we have Zazzle. Starting at about $2.00 per invitation, you can step up your game and feel like you’re splurging while still saving some cash! Personalization is obviously the only way to go with wedding invitations and they have a huge selection of styles to choose from. You’re sure to get exactly what you want shopping around for just the right one.

This is just a small list of places you can try. Shop around and don’t think that you have to spend a ton to invite people to celebrate with you. Trust me, no one is going to judge you based on your invitations. If you think they would they why would you even invite them in the first place? The point is you’re inviting them to celebrate your love, your union, and the beginning of your happily ever after. That in and of itself is a reason to smile when they go to their mailbox.

So, congratulations on your engagement! Take a deep breath and just know that this can be easier than you think if you just keep things in perspective and only cut the corners that you can afford to cut.

Happy Planning!
