Bridal Makeup Tips: How To Make Your Wedding Makeup Last Through The Day
Wedding season is heading towards us like a freight train despite the weird situation we have in the world today. Covid won’t stop couples from tying the knot now or ever. Whether it’s eloping or a micro-wedding, brides are getting all gussied up for their big day.
Here are a few essential makeup tips to make your wedding makeup last through the day:
Make sure you drink plenty of water. Water plays a big part in how your skin looks. So even if you think you’re drinking enough, drink more. A rule I go by, if your pee isn’t clear, you’re not drinking enough water. Sorry if that grosses anyone out but I’m just trying to keep it real.
Be sure to have and maintain a proper skincare routine. Don’t wait for the week of your wedding to decide to try a new routine either. Keep to the tried and true until after the nuptials.
Summer means sweat (in most places anyway) and you don’t want your makeup to slide off your face so be sure to use a setting spray. I don’t just mean at the end of the makeup application either. Use a setting spray in between layers. This will seal each step and help the longevity of your look.
Use liquid or airbrush foundation and concealers if possible. The lighter the consistency the better-staying power when that sun is high in the sky. Less is more especially on sweltering summer days so keeping your base to a minimum is key. It’s better to only cover the areas of your face that need coverage and leave the rest of your face as is. We’re not trying to create a whole new face; we want your beauty to show through.
Liquid eyeshadow is your friend. The staying power in the newest liquid shadows is amazing! Once applied and left to dry for a few minutes (use a fan it helps) these shadows don’t go anywhere. To give yourself that extra feeling of security, you can gently apply a mixing medium, like Temptu mixing medium, over top providing waterproof staying power. [use code crbeauty15 for $$ off)
When everything is all set, be sure you keep blotting papers in your purse or in your maid of honor’s purse. This will be the best way for you to touch up, if needed, without ruining your makeup. Stay away from pressed powders, if you must add powder throughout the night, use a no color loose powder with a small fluffy brush. One I swear by is RCMA No Color Powder.
Keep in mind that your makeup artist will know these tricks and will likely share them with you, but if they don’t, you can refer to this blog for some help.
