5 Ideas to Cure Boredom
Well, it’s finally happened, you don’t have to go to work. After all those days of complaining to yourself or your significant other that you don’t feel like working in the morning. After all those dreading Monday memes and those working for the weekend quotes you post all over social media…it’s happened. You can’t go to work. At least not unless you’re one of the essential workers that are working diligently to help the rest of us out. Thank you for that.
As I scroll through Twitter (my new favorite stomping grounds) I find that there are a LOT of people who are just downright bored being at home all the time. Those that are actually abiding by the “stay home unless you absolutely have to go out” rule that is. From asking for ideas to what they can do to posting the crazy TikTok’s they’ve come up with, it’s obvious we really do need other people in our lives to feel normal.
Since it seems like it’s going to be a while before we all can have “normal” back, I thought it might be a help to post some ideas for what you can do at home to take advantage of the fact that you can do these things in your jammies.
- Invest in your education. Sounds boring right? But if you think about it, what the heck else do you have going on where bettering yourself wouldn’t come in handy? I don’t even mean that you have to fork over thousands in college tuition and go back to school (who has the money for that right now anyway). What I mean is, think of something that you could learn that might help you get ahead when you do go back to the office. You can take some pretty cheap courses on Udemy or Skillshare that would come in handy. Or search through YouTube and find video lessons on something you’ve always wanted to try.
2. Netflix baby!! There are a bunch of new movies out just in time for quarantine time. Spencer Confidential with Mark Wahlberg (really good flick btw), Blood Father starring Mel Gibson (3/26/2020), Angel Has Fallen starring Gerard Butler (3/26/2020)and if you haven’t seen the first season of The Witcher starring Henry Cavill, watch it, you’re welcome ๐
3. Get your workout on. The gym’s closed after all, so why not do what you can at home. From using milk or water gallons as dumbells, stair climbing, and even yoga right in your living room (let’s face it you’re probably hanging out there all day long anyway). Orangetheoryis uploading new workouts (30 minutes long) using what you have around the house. 305 Fitness, is a dance cardio workout that’s offering free live streams 2x per day on YouTube at 12 pm and 6 pm. These are just a couple of options to choose from, but it’s a starting point for ya.
4. Home projects. So it turns out Lowes is considered an “essential” and so is allowed to stay open while other places have to close. To be fair, they do sell household items so I’m not mad at ’em. Here’s why this actually works out for us, HOME PROJECTS! You stop in to pick up some paper towels and cleaner and pick up some lumber, paint and whatever else you might need to work on that project you’ve been putting off. If you’re going to be home, you might as well!
Fancy family meals! Ok, hear me out. You know how when you were working in the office, you’d rush home and have to hurry and start dinner. I don’t know about you but fancy meals were reserved for the weekend and they weren’t even really all that fancy. I downloaded 2 apps on my phone. The first is the Food Network and the other is Tasty. Both apps are soooo good. You can use the search bar to find different types of recipes. Type, say chicken and up pop all different chicken cooking ideas. Assuming you’re able to find chicken out there, but you get what I’m saying. Now you actually have the time to put a little more time and effort into your meals.
So there you have some ideas on what to do with yourself while you’re home. Remember, staying at home is the only thing that will help us get through this covid-19 thing. Happy Quarantining!!
