5 General Questions for Narrowing Down Your Wedding Vendor Choice
Don’t let yourself get overwhelmed with planning your wedding. A few well asked questions take a lot of the stress out of planning your wedding. Here are a few important questions to ask your vendors so it’s easier to choose which one is best for you.
- Are you available on my wedding date? As silly as this question might seem to you because you would obviously have asked, you’d be surprised how many people would forget to ask. This is the first question to ask your vendor because if the answer is no, there’s no need to waste any more time. You can securely move on to your next choice in that category.
- Do you have packages available and what do they include? Some vendors may have packages that allow for you to save a little money and still get exactly what you want. If you don’t ask you won’t know. It’s always best to just be upfront with that you’re looking for and the vendor can tell you if they offer it or not.
- How long have you been in business? Your wedding day is one of the most important days in your life and you don’t want to leave it in the hands of an amateur. Be sure to ask how long they’ve been doing what they do and to show you samples of their work. If they are an officiant where photos won’t give you the information you need, feel free to ask for references. This way you can contact those couples and get an idea of what their experience is like. Don’t feel awkward doing this since the names you get from the vendor have already given the OK to have their information shared.
- What is your cancellation policy in case of an emergency? This is obviously not something you’re expecting to have happened, but things can sometimes be out of your control. If for whatever reason you must either change the date or cancel altogether, you want to be sure what that vendor’s policy is for refunding your money. These details shouldn’t be left unclear. It’s important to both parties to be sure of what’s expected in this contract.
- Do you have a backup plan? You’re not the only one who may have an unexpected event happen in their lives. Your vendors may also have something that comes up that they have to deal with on your wedding day. Whether it’s an illness, a family emergency, or their car broke down, they should have a backup plan. This helps ensure that come what may, you will have a vendor at your wedding.
Once you have your consultations and have your questions answered, you should be able to make a “Yes”, “No” and “Maybe” pile. Now you have begun narrowing down your choices and soon you will have chosen the ones perfect for you. Don’t take too long however, Venues and Photographers are the first 2 vendors booked for weddings. You don’t want to take too long to decide only to find out after all of that research, you can’t have the vendor you want for your big day because you took too long. So get to it and have fun!
