Get Rid of Self Doubt and Jump With Both Feet
This post is a little different than my others in that it’s something that I was abruptly moved to write based on a conversation I had with a dear friend of mine. This blog is about all things beauty and this particular post is about the beauty of being true to yourself.
It’s not often that I get involved in the lives of my friends and family because it’s just not where my nose likes to be. I like minding my own business and I like people to mind theirs. It’s when the people I care about ask me for my opinion that I give it. I do this without sugar or spice. I do this without wrapping it in a pretty bow and I do it will all the love in my heart. The Aries in my won’t have it any other way. So I thought I’d take the time to talk frankly with those of you reading this and put my 2 cents out there in case you have the same doubts and hesitations that my homie had.
If you don’t do it, someone else will. Read that again. For every reason to do something there is a reason not to. If you wait until you’ve perfected something, others will step in front of you in line and do it in a mediocre way and succeed. Why? Because if there is a demand for what you do, the first person to fill that need wins! That’s just the way the cookie crumbles.
If you want to start a blog, do it. It’s free for crying out loud and you can write about whatever you want. It can literally be your online journal. Fried an egg different than everyone else? Post it! Yoga class was easy today? Post it! Kids lunches made ahead of schedule? Post it and tell us how you did it! It’s that simple.
Do you have a talent you’d like to use as a side hustle? Do it! Make fliers and hand them out. Use social media to post photos of what you do and a way for people to get a hold of you. You like cleaning? Offer your services for the holidays. Do you have a knack for explaining things? Maybe copywriting is your thing, try it! Are you painfully organized and want to work from home? Why not take a stab at being a virtual assistant?
My point here is, sometimes you just have to say screw it and go for what you want to do. If not now, when? If not you, who? It doesn’t make sense to want to do something so badly but you just sit on it and watch other people take a stab at it. Rejection is a part of life. If you fail, you’ve won! Why? How else are you going to learn what not to do? If you win, and you will, great! Jennifer Lopez, Beyoncรฉ, Kim Kardashian, they all have the same amount of hours in a day, same amount of days in a week. They all have children. Don’t look for the excuse in that! Don’t open your mouth to talk about day care or nanny’s because guess what? I have children too!
I’m present with my toddler all day long. I cook, clean, play dinosaurs and cars like nobody’s business. I take him on outings and read with him. I’m here for my daughter when she’s home from school to listen to what she wants to talk about. I have dinner made (generally speaking) by the time my boyfriend gets home and after dinner I do bath time and bed time with my li’l guy. Once he’s down and everything is still, I begin to work. I’m researching topics and taking notes, sometimes I’m taking an online course on writing or other topics that can help me. I’m writing in my journal entering my days events and things I’ve accomplished. And I blog. I blog A LOT. Sometimes I don’t get to bed until about 2 am because I’m working. Yes this means I’m tired in the morning but it also means that I’m actively working towards my goals and the lifestyle I want for myself and for my family.
Positive thinking and hard work will get me where I want to be and it can for you too. You just have to want it bad enough.
Thank you for taking the time to read this even though it had nothing to do with eyeshadow, lipstick or giveaways. I hope in some way I helped you.
With Love,
Cristina
