Nice Nails, No Waiting
If you’re anything like me, you like to have nice things or look a certain way, but I don’t necessarily have the time to wait for it. Instant gratification is the way of life nowadays and that’s just what we’ve gotten used to. Enter “mom life”.
As a mom, with my youngest being 2.5 years old and all the energy of a million minions, I don’t have much time for myself and I need to make the most of naptime. I have a list of things to do and that includes blogging, showering, eating, cleaning up, and studying. Being that my little guy likes to surprise me with the length of his naps, I gotta be quick and get things started and finished. Truth be told, I sometimes have to wait ’till he’s down for the night before I can tackle some more time-consuming tasks (like this blog for instance).
If you read my previous post (skipped a week, sorry about that) you know that I’m working on starting my YouTube Channel. In that same vein, I’d like to do “unboxings” for you all and I didn’t want you to have to see ugly, dishpan hands with short stubby nails in those videos. I don’t like the idea of going to the salon to get acrylic, gel, or any other type of nail that I’m forced to keep up with. Aside from the cost, there’s the time it takes to have those done to take into consideration. Then if one lifts or comes off, I must haul my cookies to the nail salon again to have them fix it and pay for that as well.
Here’s a solution that I only tried because quite frankly, I don’t want to ruin my own nails & I don’t always want to have long nails. They can be annoying (my cell doesn’t recognize them so I can’t really ever type fast unless I talk to text), never sharp so it feels like you’re scratching yourself with marbles (no relief for any itch what-so-ever) and they were cheap! $5.97 to be exact and I got them while picking up pull-ups!
I grabbed the RS (real short) length in squoval (I love that someone invented that word) and the design is French Nails. There are 28 nails in this container, and it comes with a small orange stick a small nail file, and a small tube of glue. Applying these bad boys is a breeze. My nails polished free to start with, so I didn’t have to use acetone to take any color off. I did go over my nails with alcohol just to make sure that I didn’t have lotion or diaper cream stuck on there that wouldn’t allow the nail to sit right. Next, I followed the directions on the box. They’re very clear and easy to understand. Find the right nail sizes for your hands, set them aside (I put them in order, so I knew which one went where), apply glue to both your own nail and the acrylic nail to make sure they sit secure on your nail and bubble-free. Then you simply apply the nail right up against your cuticle and push down (make sure you don’t glue your finger to the nail cuz I couldn’t tell you how to free yourself from, well, yourself). Then just bend the tab that comes on the nail and it pops right off. For most of the nails, I didn’t even have to file it but for those that I did, it was one or two swipes of the file and I was done.
One thing I did do that wasn’t on the package was to use the orange stick to push back my own cuticles. I don’t do that on a regular basis, so I know that my cuticles needed it. This helped to expose more nails, allowing for more space to apply the faux nails too.
The package says that they last for 7 days and today I’m on day 5. So far so good. They’re still on tight and if I decide I want to remove them before they’re ready to be removed, I can just soak them in acetone and wipe them away. Easy-peasy.
So, there you have it, busy moms! A quick at-home mani with French tips that will leave your hands looking beautiful in minutes instead of hours. When I tell you that each finger took 20 seconds I’m really not kidding. This stuff dries fast!!
Tune in for more quick and easy, mom-friendly How-To’s that will keep you feeling pretty and saving you time in the process.
